Marco Hug is new senior client advisor at Colin&Cie
Colin&Cie warmly welcomes Marco Hug, the new senior client advisor in Switzerland. After more than 20 years at a cantonal bank, the experienced advisor for wealthy private clients decided to switch to an independent asset manager. At Colin&Cie, Marco Hug will further strengthen the Schaffhausen office. In the following article, Marco shares insights into his professional journey, the motivations behind his transition, and a glimpse into his life beyond the world of finance.

Marco Hug completed his banking apprenticeship at the ‘Bank in Gossau’ in the canton of St. Gallen. He later moved to Credit Suisse as a credit analyst, where his growing interest in the financial markets led him to private banking and portfolio management. Over the next decade, he served as a senior asset manager—first at Credit Suisse, and from 2002 at Schaffhauser Kantonalbank. In early 2007, Marco transitioned to advising high-net-worth clients, applying his asset management expertise in a more personalized setting. It was the right decision, as the past 18 years as a successful senior client advisor at Schaffhauser Kantonalbank prove.
Marco Hug is convinced that his move to Colin&Cie is the right decision for his professional career: ‘Wealth advisory and asset management are my passion. Understanding each client’s unique needs, aligning their life and investment goals with tailored strategies, and managing their assets with precision and care— this is what drives me. At Colin&Cie, I find conditions that enable me to provide clients with even more comprehensive, targeted and personalised service.’
Thomas Warnecke, founder and CEO of Colin&Cie, is delighted with the new addition: ‘Marco has almost 30 years of professional experience as a portfolio manager and client advisor. His proven track record and his most recent further training as an “SAQ Certified Wealth Management Advisor CWMA” reflect his deep commitment to the profession. With Marco Hug and Colin Schär (who joined Colin&Cie at the beginning of 2025), we have expanded our advisory capacity at our Schaffhausen location, thereby meeting the increased demand for professional, independent asset management.’
Marco Hug lives with his daughter in Beringen, a municipality west of Schaffhausen. In his free time, he plays tennis at the local club, does endurance sports (running) and enjoys being out and about in the mountains in summer (hiking) and in winter (skiing). For him, sports and nature are an important counterbalance to his professional life.
